Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in Chadoora town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday amid a gunfight between militants and forces in Kaneera village of the district, sources said.
Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling on the protesters who pelted stones on them, local sources said.
As reported earlier a militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter at Chadoora village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Official sources said that a joint team of army, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation near Kaneera village in Chadoora.
As the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight.
Meanwhile internet services were snapped in the central Kashmir district soon after the gunfight started.
